World Super Bike back at Laguna where it should be!
The pit area is very different from when we last rode there, everything looks updated but the important thing is the layout of the track is still the same and one of the most fun tracks to ride. it always brings out good racing. My favourite spot was from the corkscrew until you crested the fast left over the start/finish line. As fun as laguna is it can be very hard to master. The corkscrew draws you in, many locals were very good there through this section and could make an inside pass on the entry look easy. Often riders brake too late and end up on the inside with someone turning in which can end sometimes putting you over the highside and or taking the other guy out.
Chaz Davies weekend ended early in race one with a knock to the head he couldn’t take part in race two. The Aprilias of Marco and Sylvain were looking good and they have been strong of late and they rode to a great one two with Sykes rounding out the podium.
Race two was a long process being restarted twice. The first red flag was brought out when Alex Lowes got into the corkscrew too hot and clipped Loris Baz as he was turning in, Baz was lucky to get away with that and Alex will be sore for a while. The racing was good. In the first restart Marco got the jump, Tom,Silvain and Rea were hot on his heels with Guiliano charging hard. Only three laps in and a strange crash by Silvain Barrier coming onto the straight brought out the red flag again. Tensions would have been high! In the final restart Melandri shot off the line with Tom and Ellias off to a great start too. Ellias has been riding well. Guintoli made a move on Tony early but this time it was Marco three laps in who lost the front into the last corner and then on the next lap Davide Guiliano who was charging up into third used too much curve on the inside of the corkscrew and went down as well shattering Ducati’s hopes of a good weekend. This left Johnny Rea for the podium Guintoli second and Tom for the win.
There is a bit of a break now so enjoy it. Can’t wait for WDW.

Il Mondiale SBK torna dove dovrebbe sempre stare: a Laguna Seca!
La pit area è cambiata dall’ultima corsa che abbiamo fatto, tutto è stato rinnovato ma la cosa importante è che il tracciato di gara è sempre lo stesso, Laguna Seca è una delle piste più divertenti da fare: è alla fine viene sempre fuori una bella gara.
Il punto del tracciato che preferivo era dal cavatappi sino all’ultima curva veloce a sinistra prima del rettilineo di partenza/arrivo. La pista è molto divertente ma è molto difficile da dominare, il cavatappi ti attira, molti riders locali che guidano bene questa pista, pensano che passare all’interno in questo tratto sia facile. Spesso i piloti frenano troppo tardi e finiscono con la loro traiettoria all’interno della traiettoria di un altro pilota che sta facendo la curva e così o subiscono un highside o buttano fuori anche l’altro.
Il fine settimana di Chaz Davies è terminato presto, un colpo alla testa subito in gara 1, non gli ha permesso di partecipare a gara 2. Le Aprilia sono andate bene, Marco e Sylvain sono stati forti e hanno fatto una buona doppietta, Sykes ha completato il podio.
Gara 2 è stata lunga, è stata riavviata due volte, la prima bandiera rossa è stata esposta quando Alex Lowes al Cavatappi è entrato troppo duro ed ha colpito Loris Baz. Baz è stato fortunato a cavarsela con poco, Alex rimarrà dolorante per un po’. Alla prima ripartenza Melandri è balzato in testa, con Tom, Silvain e Rea alle sue calcagna e Giuliano attardato ad inseguire. Solo tre giri e uno strano incidente sul rettilineo dei box di Silvain Barrier ha fatto di nuovo sventolare la bandiera rossa. La tensione si è alzata. Nell’ultima ripartenza Melandri è partito a razzo inseguito subito da Tom Sykes ed Elias. Elias guidava bene ma Guintoli lo ha sorpassato subito. Questa volta è Melandri che al terzo giro perde l’anteriore sull’ultima curva e nel giro successivo è Giuliano, arrivato al terzo posto, a scivolare al cavatappi e così si sono frantumate le speranze di Ducati di fare un buon weekend. Queste cadute hanno lasciato spazio a Johnny Rea per il podio, Guintoli per il secondo posto e Sykes per la vittoria.
Ora ci sarà un po’ di pausa, godetevela. Non vedo l’ora di andare al WDW.
